Welcome to Our Energy Futures!
Here, you will find different ways to interact with our community of scientists.
First, in the Topics page different energy experts play the role of Story-tellers and provide different perspectives about energy issues to which you can post comment in the
Forum.
Second, the Nuclear Predicament is a special page where one short publication is periodically posted to which you are invited to react.
Third, in the Forum, you can participate actively in this experiment by (1) telling us your opinion on the selected topics; (2) adding any new topic; and (3) giving us your feedback about this experiment (this website!).
Topics
We know that a "low carbon" economy is possible. In fact it was the only economy humans knew during most of their history in pre-industrial societies. Even today it is the daily reality for many subsistence societies on the planet which operate to 100% on renewable energy resources. So the real question is not whether it is possible to achieve a low carbon economy but rather: can we run a modern society, at a given level of population, keeping a material standard of living considered as acceptable, according to modern standards, while reducing dramatically our dependence on fossil energy?

Forum
You can have your say in this Forum of discussion and participate actively in this experiment by telling us your opinion on the selected topics. This is how we can see your perception of the energy crisis and check that the scientific information we are providing responds to your concerns.
You can also add any new topic you think it can be useful for the discussion about Our Energy Futures.
You are finally invited to provide us with your feedback about this experiment (this website!) and suggestions on how we can improve the interface between scientists and society.
